A temple at the end

Pattadakal

Sthatigudi ends on gudi, the temple in Kannada (ಗುಡಿ) and Telugu (గుడి), two languages of southern India (भारत). Its start is close to sthā (स्था), the Sanskrit root of standing, of what holds firm, a cousin of the Persian -stān, the place, that ends Pakistan (پاکستان) or Afghanistan (افغانستان).

What stands firm, then the temple: a name built like a foundation.
