About Ilmenhorn
Ilmenhorn is galaxy 248 of 256 in No Man's Sky, a normal galaxy. The standard odds. The game calls them Imperfect, Improved, Parallel or Rebuilt galaxies, under a cyan hologram. Most of the 256 are normal.
Travellers arrive here from the centre of Neuxoisan. From the centre of Ilmenhorn, the road goes on to Rukwatsuku.

An Alpine name
Of all the names the game's generator has given to galaxies, Ilmenhorn may be the one that sounds most like a real place. It reads like a peak of the Swiss Alps: in the German of the mountains, a horn is a summit, as in the Matterhorn, the Weisshorn or the Finsteraarhorn.
The resemblance goes further. The Olmenhorn, one letter away, is a peak of the Bernese Alps (Berner Alpen) in the Valais (Wallis), above the Aletsch glacier. The Illhorn rises above Chandolin, in the same canton. The Ilmenspitze stands in the Ortler Alps (Ortler-Alpen) of South Tyrol (Südtirol), and Ilmenau is a town of the Thuringian Forest (Thüringer Wald), in Germany (Deutschland).
Yet no mountain, village or valley on Earth is called Ilmenhorn: only a phonetic collision, a few letters away from a map of the Alps.
