About Thorettac

Figeac

Thorettac is galaxy 76 of 256 in No Man's Sky, a normal galaxy. The standard odds. The game calls them Imperfect, Improved, Parallel or Rebuilt galaxies, under a cyan hologram. Most of the 256 are normal.

Travellers arrive here from the centre of Ruckinarkh. From the centre of Thorettac, the road goes on to Nuponoparau.

This atlas holds 352 charted regions and 7 star systems of Thorettac, each with its portal address.

A god in a French village

Thorettac opens with the name of the Norse god of thunder and ends like a village of the south of France. The ending -ac goes back to a Gaulish suffix, -acum in Latin, that marked an estate after the name of its owner. Two thousand years later it is still all over the map, from Cognac and Jarnac to Bergerac and Figeac, in the Occitan lands and as far as eastern Brittany.

The game's name generator knows nothing of Gaul. But put Thor at the head of a Gallo-Roman estate, and Thorettac sounds like a hamlet where the storms come from the north.
