Fort Mandan
Jelmandan ends on Mandan, the people of the earth-lodge villages of the Missouri, in today's North Dakota. Lewis and Clark spent the winter of 1804 beside them, at Fort Mandan, and there they hired Sacagawea, who would guide them west.
