A French spring with a Norwegian end
Fontenikk starts like a French village. Fonten- is the root of Fontaine and Fontenay, from the Latin fons, a spring: Fontenay was the place of springs, and France has dozens of them. The end, -ikk, looks Norwegian, the language of musikk and fabrikk.
A French spring with a Norwegian ending: a name that crossed the North Sea.
