How to Find a Star System in No Man's Sky
Three ways to find a No Man's Sky star system on this site, depending on what you know: its portal address, its name or a trait, or a description for the Oracle.
You have the address
Type or paste it on the portal, or go straight to its URL: see Use direct URL.
You know a name or a trait: Search
Search looks through systems, regions and guides across the catalogued galaxies:
- by name, with suggestions as you type, and close matches when nothing fits exactly;
- by filters: economy, wealth, conflict, locals, star type, moons.
Search only knows what has been charted. For the rest, ask the Oracle.
You can describe it: the Oracle
The Oracle answers in plain words. Describe what you are looking for ("a wealthy red star with a trading economy") or type a name, and it answers with systems, including systems nobody has ever charted.
It does this by computing every system of a region from its address alone. That is also what the "Predicted" values on system pages come from. Each Oracle region page states how reliable its predictions are, measured against the systems we do know.
A few things worth knowing:
- No account and no language model: the Oracle runs on this site's own servers. It does not need a GPU to be wrong sometimes.
- Your questions are not stored with your identity: see Privacy. Your own history of questions stays in your browser.
- You can share an exchange with the Oracle as a link.
- Some answers quote the community wiki of the game, with its licence: see Sources.
- The Oracle does not spoil discoveries the game wants you to make yourself.
