Contributing: Add Star Systems, Planets and Screenshots

This project is built by one person in their spare time, charting a whole universe. Every contribution counts, and every one is credited.

From the game

Survey a system. On any system page, "Survey this system" opens the form: name, discoverer, star, planets, inhabitants, economy, a guide in your own words, a link and a screenshot. You can also go straight to /survey/{galaxy}-{code}.
Complete a survey. On a charted system with missing parts, fill in only what is missing (the star, the planets, the economy, the guide...). Each part is sent on its own.
Confirm a prediction. On a predicted system, one click confirms a value you saw in game.
Log a black hole exit. Dive in, and tell us where you came out.
The Cartographer's Desk lists a few systems each week that are worth the trip but still half-written: a photographed planet with an empty file, a black hole with no known exit, neighbours whose mood is unknown.

Everything is read by a human before it is published, so it may take a few days. Your submissions show up in My Glyphs.

From your save

Write my story turns your save into a story, and can share the geography of your journey with the catalogue. See Stories.

Screenshots

The site's backgrounds are players' screenshots, each credited in the gallery. Want yours there? Share it on the Discord.

Bulk data

If you hold a catalogue of your own (100 systems or more), it can be imported: spreadsheets, databases (SQLite, Firebase…), or text files (JSON, CSV, HTML…). Each source needs some custom work, so be cool and patient. You will always be credited.

Heavy queries on the database, or data for a community event, are possible on a motivated request. If you run a bot (Discord or other) and want it in sync with the site, get in touch too.

Beyond data

Whatever you are good at, there is probably a way to help:

documentation, in the style of these pages;
translation of the site into your language;
code, big or small, performance, bug hunting;
statistics, data science, SQL;
design: CSS, JS, everything visual;
security audits, but please ask first: the servers are shy.
