Observatory

The Observatory reads the Euclid galaxy through data: what explorers have surveyed, what the Oracle predicts for the rest, and the trade routes between them.

Statistics

  • Star spectral types: which star colours and classes dominate, and why yellow stars are over-represented (black holes only spawn in yellow systems, so explorers chart many of them. Yellow is the new black).
  • Economies: trading, mining, manufacturing, high tech and the others, by type and by strength.
  • Wealth and conflict levels.
  • Locals: which lifeforms live where.
  • Synthetic Euclid: the same statistics over one million systems predicted by the Oracle, charted or not.

Comparing the two tells you where explorers' surveys are biased, and where the predictions are.

Trade routes

Trade routes are built on the game's two directional economy loops: buy a commodity where it is produced, sell it in the next economy of the loop, which demands it.

  • Hops: single buy-sell transactions, ranked by spread adjusted for wealth and distance.
  • Inter-regional hops: the same, across a region boundary.
  • Loops: full circuits through the surrounding regions, charted or predicted. When the stops are predicted, prices cannot be known, so loops are ranked by potential (wealth over distance travelled), never by profit.

Limits

The statistics describe the catalogue, not the universe: they show what explorers chose to chart. Synthetic Euclid corrects for that, within the limits of the Oracle's predictions.
