Dissonant systems in No Man's Sky: how to find them and Atlantideum
How to find dissonant systems and corrupted planets in No Man's Sky, what you find there, and why Atlantideum leads to purple stars.
What is a dissonant system?
Dissonance came with the Interceptor update, on 5 April 2023. A dissonant system is one where the Sentinels have gone wrong: some of its planets are corrupted, covered in purple crystals and guarded by corrupted Sentinels.
These corrupted planets hold what the update brought: crashed Sentinel Interceptor ships to repair and fly, Sentinel multi-tools, and Atlantideum, the resource that grows from the purple crystals.
How common are they?
Common. On one million systems predicted across Euclid, 23.2 % show dissonance, nearly one system in four. This site holds 2 777 dissonant systems recorded by players, across the 256 galaxies.
How to find one
- On the galaxy map: with the right scanners installed, the system description says so. Look for the word dissonant, or for "dissonance detected".
- In the system: look at each planet. Once on the ground, the purple crystals give a corrupted planet away.
- On this site: ask the Oracle for a "dissonant system near" a region: it answers with the dissonant systems recorded by players.
A dissonant system does not always make every planet corrupted. Check each world before you land.
Atlantideum and purple stars
Atlantideum is mined from the crystals of corrupted planets, anywhere in the galaxy. It matters for one more reason: the Atlantid Drive, the hyperdrive upgrade that reaches purple star systems, is built with it. So dissonant systems are a stop on the way to the purple stars. See Purple stars.
It also repairs Sentinel multi-tools, and it sells well.
Record what you find
Found a corrupted planet with a crashed Interceptor? Contribute the system, with its portal address, so other travellers find it without searching. See also Glossary for the words of the game.
