Planets with rings in No Man's Sky: how many and where

How many planets have rings in No Man's Sky? About one world in five, measured on 4.7 million predicted planets and moons. Where to look, and how to spot them.

How many worlds have rings?

More than people think. On one million systems predicted across Euclid, holding 4 754 849 planets and moons, 883 130 have rings: 18.6 %, nearly one world in five.

With 4.76 worlds per system on average, most systems have at least one ringed world. See How many planets.

Where to look

  • From space: rings are easy to spot when you arrive in a system. Fly around before you land.
  • On the galaxy map: no filter for rings, so look at the system itself.
  • On this site: system pages draw each planet and moon of the system, with its rings when it has some, so you can choose before you go.

Rings are a matter of looks, not of what you find on the ground: a ringed world can be lush, frozen or dead like any other.

A ringed base

A planet with rings is one of the most photographed views of the game, rings rising over the horizon. Found a good one? Share its address with a link, see Find your portal address, or contribute the system.
