Binary and ternary star systems in No Man's Sky
How common are systems with two or three suns in No Man's Sky? Measured on the systems recorded by players: 85 % have one sun, 11 % two, 4 % three.
One, two or three suns
Most star systems of No Man's Sky have a single sun. Some have two, a binary system, and a few have three, a ternary one. Among the 9 284 recorded systems where players noted the number of suns:
- One sun: 7 923 systems, 85 %.
- Two suns: 1 015 systems, 11 %.
- Three suns: 346 systems, 4 %.
None has more than three.
What it looks like
In a binary or ternary system, the extra suns show in the sky, and in the system view from space. For what a sun's colour and class mean, see Star colours and classes.
How to find one
- In the game: the number of suns shows once you are in the system, and from space you see them.
- On this site: system pages draw the suns of the system when they are known.
A ternary system is a fine place for a base with a view. Found one? Contribute it.
