Gek, Korvax, Vy'keen: where each race lives in No Man's Sky
Where to find Gek, Korvax and Vy'keen systems in No Man's Sky, how often systems are uncharted, abandoned or pirate, and what the star colour tells you.
Three races, three equal shares
Every inhabited system has one dominant lifeform, shown before you land: the trading Gek, the scientist Korvax, or the warrior Vy'keen. None of them owns a part of the galaxy. On one million systems predicted across Euclid:
- Korvax: 28.6 %.
- Vy'keen: 28.6 %.
- Gek: 28.5 %.
- No dominant lifeform: 14.2 %, shown in the game as uncharted.
The catalogue of systems recorded by players says the same, with about 30 % each: see the lifeforms page of the Observatory.
So there is no Gek corner of the galaxy and no Korvax arm. Each race can be in the next system, and the one after. To meet one in particular, look at the system's details on the galaxy map before you warp.
What the star colour tells you
The colour of the sun is the best clue to whether anyone lives there. On the predicted million:
- Yellow: every system has a dominant lifeform, in three equal thirds.
- Purple: 13 % without, the rest in three equal shares.
- Green and blue: about 36 % without.
- Red: 95 % without. A red sun almost always means an empty system.
Uncharted, abandoned, outlaw
Besides the three races, a system can be:
- Uncharted: no dominant lifeform at all, 14.2 % of systems.
- Abandoned: a station left empty, 5.6 % of systems. Abandoned systems still carry the name of the race that left.
- Pirate controlled: an outlaw system, 7.9 % of systems, with its own station and its own rules. Outlaws are also tied to a race.
Language and standing
Each race has its own words to learn and its own standing to earn, through missions, monoliths and its traders and pilots. Since all three are spread evenly, you can work on all three at once, wherever you are.
